The collage artist and poet Mimi Shapiro, has accepted an Artist and Writers Residency at Château d'Orquevaux in Champagne-Ardenne, France! She has been awarded The Denis Diderot Grant.

Château d’Orquevaux traces its history to the Denis Diderot family which always had art in mind, and we are proud to continue that tradition with your presence as part of this legacy.

In Diderot’s words: "First of all, move me, surprise me, rend my heart; make me tremble, weep, shudder, outrage me! Delight my eyes, afterwards, if you can." – Denis Diderot: Artist, Writer, Philosopher (1713 - 1784)

This application process is highly competitive and has received an overwhelming response from all over the world. Approximately 20 percent of the artists that apply are accepted to Château

d’Orquevaux. Being accepted as an Artist or Writer in Residence is quite an accomplishment.

This residency will enhance her artistic journey, add to your portfolio, and offer Mimi the chance to collaborate and engage with a diverse group of artists from all over the world.

Mimi’s residency is scheduled for 2027: March 5th – 18th, 2027. She is excited about attending and spending her time there working on a new book of poetry, illustrated in her surrealistic collage style.
